5 BROKEN CAMERAS wins Oscar Nomination
We are excited to announce that 5 BROKEN CAMERAS has been selected for an Oscar
nomination for Best Documentary Feature amongst a strong line‐up of films; The
Gatekeeper, Invisible War, How to Survive a Plague and Searching for Sugar Man.
We would like to pass on our Congratulations to Emad Burnat and Guy Davidi for
securing this nomination as well as receiving many major awards, including the top prize
at Cinema Eye Honors for Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Feature Filmmaking.
Having taken six years to make with hundreds of hours of video footage, their sheer
hard work patience and perseverance has paid off well. In return the film has given us
all the opportunity to share their insight into the daily struggle for liberty against all
odds and hopefully the strength to carry on any injustice we may find ourselves in.
An extraordinary work of both cinematic and political activism, 5 Broken Cameras
daringly meshes personal essay with political cinema, displaying how images and
cameras can change lives and realities.
