A satire of the filmmaking process, holding up its absurdity to the lens for everyone to see.'
A hilarious and frustrating filmmaker comedy. It is more a movie for those in the industry with similar experiences, but the humour is accessible enough for a wider audience. One could argue that it offers more for the uninformed. They won't watch a film the same way again.
Euan Franklin, The Upcoming
'Casting is not just a funny film, but a tribute to the work of one of the world's greatest filmmakers. With complexities that could be missed on a single viewing, this is one to watch repeatedly.'
Laura Davis, One Room with a View
A story about cinema that has been put together like a Russian doll not only in terms of its subject matter but also its structure.
it purports to slink into the world of cinema by the back door, only to throw the audience in head-first, immersing us in its depths with masterful skill under the magician-like direction of Nicolas Wackerbarth.
Benedicte Prot
Casting is both intelligent and entertaining, marked by exciting turning points, humour and the breath-taking acting performances by a truly virtuoso ensemble.
Director Nicolas Wackerbarth captures the complex essence of Fassbinder's film and simultaneously creates a profound work of his own.
'An unflinching look at the murky depths of human relationships driven by power, passion and desperation.'
Film Affinity
'The film is a gem of scriptwriting and ensemble acting.'
'...reveals a penchant for a playful mix of poetry and irony.'
Ela Bittencourt, Reverse Shot
